For Men's Sheds

Attendance and emergency roll call for New Zealand Men’s Sheds

Most sheds still run a paper sign-in book by the door — and half the time it doesn’t get filled in. When WorkSafe asks who was on site, or a member has a fall in the workshop, a half-finished book is not much help. Clock-In is a men’s shed sign in system built for exactly this: members tap their name on a tablet as they arrive, and the shed always has a current list of who is in the building.

Clock-In men's shed sign in system on a tablet by the workshop door

There is no app for members to download and no account to create. The coordinator sees the live list from a phone or laptop, and the same list becomes the roll call if the alarm goes off. Clock-In helps you maintain clear attendance records and supports your workplace emergency procedures.

What a men’s shed sign in system gives your shed

Know who's in the shed right now

Open the live view on any phone and see every member currently signed in, with their arrival time. No more walking the shed floor counting heads or guessing who slipped out early.

A roll call built from the sign-in list

If you need to evacuate, start a roll call from the live list and tick each member safe with one tap. Every drill and every real muster is saved, so you have a record of how the shed responded.

No app, no passwords for members

Members find their name on the tablet and tap it. An optional 4-digit PIN stops mix-ups between similar names. Nothing to install, nothing to remember — which matters when not everyone in the shed is a phone person.

Health and safety records you can actually produce

Attendance is kept per session and per member. Export the lot to CSV for your committee, your insurer, or a WorkSafe query, without copying anything out of a damp notebook.

How sign-in works at the shed

  1. Step 1

Put a tablet by the door

Open your shed's Clock-In link on a tablet or spare laptop at the entrance. A printed QR code works too — members can sign in from their own phone if they prefer.

  2. Step 2

    Members tap their name

As each person arrives they find their name and tap in, with an optional 4-digit PIN. Tapping out on the way home is the same one step.

  3. Step 3

Watch the live list — and run a roll call

The coordinator sees who's in at any time. If the alarm sounds, switch the same list to roll-call mode and confirm every member safe.

What customers say

“Every shed has a Duty of Care to ensure the safety of their members. If you don't even know who is in your shed, good luck when WorkSafe pitches up.”

Men's Shed sign-in questions

Do members need to install an app to sign in?
No. Clock-In runs in a web browser on the shed's tablet. Members tap their name on the screen — there is no app to download, no account to set up, and no password to remember.
How does the shed roll call work in a fire drill?
Start a roll call from the live sign-in list. Every member currently signed in appears, and you tap each one as confirmed safe. The drill is timed and saved, so you have a record for your committee and any WorkSafe follow-up.
Is this a menzshed attendance record we can show WorkSafe?
Clock-In keeps a time-stamped record of who signed in and out of the shed, per session, which you can export to CSV at any time. It helps you maintain clear attendance records and supports your emergency procedures — it does not replace your shed's emergency plan, wardens, or evacuation drills.
What if two members have very similar names?
Turn on the optional 4-digit PIN. Members pick their name and enter their PIN, so John Smith and John Smyth never get logged as each other.
How much does it cost for a shed our size?
Most sheds fit the Starter plan at NZ$29 a month for up to 25 members, or Growth at NZ$79 a month for up to 200. Pricing is a flat monthly fee for the shed, not per member. There is a free 30-day trial with no credit card.
